eyeSmart is a revolutionary national and international award winning ophthalmic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Hospital Management System developed by the L V Prasad Eye Institute, India. The digital system integrates clinical, surgical, financial and operational functions of the hospital on a single seamless platform. The eyeSmart EMR system has so far enabled 10.5 million patient consultations over 11 years.
Around 8500+ patients are seen every day on eyeSmart EMR in India, Cambodia, Liberia, Mexico, Nepal, Cyprus and the Dominican Republic.
LV Prasad Eye Institute
Established in 1987, L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness, is a comprehensive eye health facility. The Institute has ten active arms to its areas of operations: Clinical Services, Education, Research, Vision Rehabilitation, Rural and Community Eye Health, Eye Banking, Advocacy and Policy Planning, Capacity Building, Innovation and Product Development. LVPEI is managed by two not-for-profit entities – Hyderabad Eye Institute (HEI) and Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation (HERF).

The mission of L V Prasad Eye Institute is to be a centre of excellence in Eye care services, basic and clinical research into eye diseases and vision-threatening conditions, training, product development, and rehabilitation for those with incurable visual disability, with a focus on extending equitable and efficient Eye care to underserved populations in the developing world.
